The microblogging network has announced a new feature that will structure timelines differently.

After users choose to switch on the feature in their settings, prioritised Tweets from users who you’re most likely to care about will be presented first on timelines. Users can also refresh at any time to see the live, updated version of their twitter feed that they’re used to.

Users were initially concerned about the announcement which started the trending hash tag #RIPTwitter comparing it to Facebook’s timeline changes.

“We've already seen that people who use this new feature tend to Retweet and Tweet more, creating more live commentary and conversations, which is great for everyone,” says a Twitter blog post.

If you’re still not a fan of Twitter’s update, remember you can just turn it off in settings under “Show me the best Tweets first”.
