The resistance to invest in design is fading thanks to successful pioneers like Airbnb and Uber that proved design has a tangible impact on the bottom line.

The Design Management Institute realised that the value of design is difficult to define — so they sought to measure it.  In their 2015 report, they found that companies who employ design-centric practices out-perform the S&P 500 by 211%. 

Design is no longer just an aesthetic output. It is engrained in every customer touchpoint from website user experience, through to brand architecture, user interface design for apps and digital products, and design thinking. 

Customers have a plethora of opportunities to engage with a brand. Just one simple digital interaction can ruin an entire brand reputation for a customer. 

Having a user experience strategy that holistically looks at every step in a customer journey, and every brand touchpoint (digital or physical) is crucial.
